Biography

Chase and the Dragon is a Drum & Bass duo blending modern sounds with world music and classic DnB elements. Formed by two like-minded artists with distinct but complementary backgrounds, their music fuses decades of DnB culture with fresh, dancefloor-ready energy. Born from a shared obsession with bass music, hip-hop, and human connection through music, their sound is organic yet hard hitting — spanning multiple genres of drum n bass from rollers, jump up, liquid, to mainroom. 

One half of the duo is DJ Puma, a 30-year veteran of the DnB scene – a vinyl collector, selector, and touring percussionist with a deep knowledge of sample culture with a junglist attitude. Growing up in the Philadelphia area, his DJ skills were born during the original era of vinyl, spinning at some of the first Drum n Bass parties to hit the USA.

Their other half, Resonant Sun, brings melodic depth as a lifelong pianist, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist producer. Raised in Oakland, CA, he was heavily influenced by 90’s Golden Era Hip-Hop. With 25 years of experience in music production, beat-making, and sound experimentation, he brings a unique flavor to the DnB world.

Together, they form Chase and the Dragon — a meeting point of rhythm and melody, old-school breaks and modern sound design, tradition and innovation.  Their music blends heavy basslines, tight rhythms, and live percussion with intricate melodic work featuring lush soundscapes, cinematic intros, and ethnic instrumentation – creating a West Coast DnB sound that’s totally original.

This is not just Drum & Bass — it’s a lifetime of music, culture, and connection packed into every track and every set.
